I second that and secondly - no-one answered that one - why has it won accession to BIAZA in the first place?

How come their enclosures were deemed favourable by the govt. zoo inspection staff?

Re religion: I am afraid I am an atheist, but I respect other peoples' religion or right thereof. Just how some can not acknowledge Darwin and evolution or try to block its teaching in elementary school education (apart from the fact I feel education on the major world religions for all of us is essential) is above and over dangerously ill-advised! ;)

Re enclosure design and staff capabilities: can you elaborate more?
 
Well the example of staff knowledge comes with the owner thinking he can keep tigers because he has pet cats (or at least that's what I think I read.)
And some of their enclosures are ok, but some of them (e.g.- ruffed lemur) are small, and really artificial looking with concrete floors and very few climbing structures.
But I think the Rhino and Giraffe enclosures are decent sized.

Not sure how it got into BIAZA can only assume that they have started giving away BIAZA membership on cornflakes packets like they have with free entry to zoos.

As for the enclosure design and staff capabilities think i`ve said as much as i can safely put on here already,what i will say i have seen some of the staff at work and the practises that they were using was not good for the animals involved and in the long term will be very dangerous to the staff themselves if they continue to use the practise i saw them using when the animals start getting any where near full grown.

This all stems from this collection growing from a Farm. Farming and Zookeeping both involve animals and animal management but there the similarities end really.

THe Giraffe House does look as if it has been constructed from very cheap materials and with a plywood interior. I've never seen a pet dog tied- up and given a 'zoo label' before- I do find that a bit in poor taste somehow.
Do they also have a 'Homo sapiens' somewhere?

I am curious to know how they have managed to gain a zoo license and BIAZA membership with these as examples of their style & set-up.
 
they say the the giraffe house is "state of the art" and if you look through the zoos itineary most animals they keep are quite common zoo animals, i expect the bengal tigers they get will be surplus ones.

If you want to see a state of the art Giraffe House go to Banham and have a look at the one they have just built far better than the 1 at Noahs.

Iwould also rate Marwell's the best Giraffe House in the Uk, and it was certainly 'state of the art' when it was first built.

I agree Marwells is also still a very good house,you could also include Blackpools new Giraffe House as been better than Noahs.
 
When are the tigers due to appear at the zoo? I presume they are just going to take cast off tigers? Probably from the west midlands? I think the 2 bengals from chester will go there?

Didn't they mention keeping 6 females (3 Amur and 3 Bengal?)
On here a while ago there was a design submitted by the zoo to the local council, but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone have it?
EDIT: Never mind, found the planning application on another thread :)

Wasn't 6, I made a mistake and apparently it's actually 5.
Still, it's taking the piss a bit, don't they know that tigers are solitary...?
 
Well the design has 3 seperate enclosures, but I'd imagine they'd try and keep them together.
