Non-Avian Species in Aviaries

What examples have you seen of non avian species being kept in Aviaries with free-flight birds? I know the North Carolina Zoo has displayed several species of turtles and tortoises (Red-footed, Yellow-footed, Snake-necked, Forsten's) in the RJ Reynolds Forest Aviary over the years. What other examples have you seen/know of?

Mammals:

Long nosed potoroo- (Mixed with cockatoos if I remember correctly, Drusillas animal park, UK)

Baird's tapir- (Mixed with several macaw and amazon parrot species at Chapultepec zoo, Mexico)

Agouti - (Mixed with blue and gold macaws, Sorocaba zoo, Brazil and mixed with currasows, guans and ocellated turkey at Chapultepec zoo, Mexico)

Tamandua- (Mixed with a toco toucan, Sorocaba zoo, Brazil)

African crested porcupine -(Mixed with an African grey parrot at Chapultepec zoo, Mexico)

Rodrigues fruit bats- (Mixed with various pheasants, Drusillas animal park,UK & Mixed with sun bittern and other birds that I dont remember at ZSL, UK)

Hoffmann's two toed sloth - (Mixed with keel billed toucans, Chapultepec zoo, Mexico)

Golden headed lion tamarin - (Mixed with sun bitterns and some other species that I don't remember at ZSL)

Midas tamarin- (Mixed with burrowing owl and keel billed toucan, San Juan de Aragon zoo, Mexico)

Emperor tamarin - (Mixed with sun bitterns and some other species that I don't remember at ZSL)

Red titi monkey- (Mixed with sun bitterns and some other species that I don't remember at ZSL)

Bolivian squirrel monkey -(Mixed with Patagonian conures and a trumpeter species, Chapultepec zoo, Mexico)

Capybara (Mixed with Patagonian conures and a trumpeter species, Chapultepec zoo, Mexico)

Silvery marmoset - (Mixed with sun bitterns and some other species that I don't remember at ZSL)

Volcano rabbit - (Mixed with painted bunting at both Los Coyotes zoo and Chapultepec zoo, Mexico)

Common marmoset - (Mixed with a green fruit dove and a black headed cacique parrot)

Brocket deer - (Mixed with blue and gold macaws, scarlet macaws and millitary macaws at San Juan de Aragon zoo and with currasows, guans and ocellated turkey at Chapultepec zoo, Mexico)

Florida softshell turtle - (Mixed with a plush crested and azure jay, Sorocaba zoo, Brazil)

The flying fox, Volcano rabbit, potoroo, capybara, brocket, and iguanas.

The Rodrigues fruit bat was at Drusillas zoo in the UK and was mixed with a number of pheasant species.

The volcano rabbits was at Chapultepec and los coyotes zoo in Mexico and was mixed with painting buntings and I believe a red cardinal and perhaps some other passerines too (I'll try to find what species).

The long nosed potoroo was at Drusillas zoo in the UK and was mixed with cockatoos and perhaps eclectus parrots or maybe some species of lorikeet if I remember correctly.

The brocket deer were at Chapultepec zoo in Mexico and were mixed with currasows, guans and ocellated turkey.

The green iguana was at San Juan de aragon zoo in Mexico and was mixed with a keel billed toucan and burrowing owls.

The other iguana example (green and black iguanas) was also in Mexico at Chapultepec zoo where both green and black iguanas were mixed with keel billed toucans.

Ah, with your tapir examples you reminded me of another one.

For many years a lone Baird's tapir was kept in a large enclosed roof enclosure with scarlet macaws, millitary macaws, blue and gold macaws and several Mexican amazon parrot species at Chapultepec zoo, Mexico.

How will displaying a binturong with birds work since binturongs eat birds?

You have to ask this question the Zoo-it wasn't my idea.... Maybe they feed the Binturongs so well, so they won't hunt the birds-and of cousre, they become to fat for that.

But I think, the Binturogs will not be kept in the aviaray itself, but in a seperate area.

I don't think you could ever feed a binturong so much that it would repress an opportunistic predatory instinct to grab one of those birds.

I was careful with the wording at the beginning of that post for a reason. The Red Pandas had access to a very small portion of a larger free-flight aviary (at the Minnesota Zoo). The full list of birds in that exhibit is:

I didn't see your carefully placed wording there and assumed that this was an example of a mixed bird / mammal exhibit as the question of the thread stated.

Strikes me as a very strange mix as I'm sure red pandas would have predatory instincts to many of the birds listed or their young.
