Nordens Ark Nordens Ark

Today 0.1 Przewalski's horse was sent to a reserve in Weilburg, Germany. There the mare is forming a flock with 4 other young mares from various zoos in Europe. In the spring next year are the flock transferring to Kazakhstan.
 
It has been lot of rain since Wednesday on the Swedens westcoast and outside the park and in the Wetlands it was lot of water when the staff came to the work on Thursday morning. They have post some pics on their Facebook side of the weather.

But a ''snow-cat'' was enjoying the water and took a bath.

From October 21, They will holding a display at Gothenburg city library for 3 weeks, there you can see pictures from their 25 year jubilee this year and some activities.

Of total, 3 litters of Pallas cat which have survival in the worlds zoos this year, has a litter of 5 kittens survival at Nordens ark.

3 of these kittens have now moved to new home in 3 differnet zoos in Europe (Budapest Zoo, Lodz Zoo, Zoo Lyon).
 
Pernilla Thalin from Orsas Björnpark will be new CEO of Nordens ark. She start to work in summer next year. Lena M lindén who has been CEO of Nordens ark for over 25 years will to end her work in the park, but she will still to work with conservation of animals and enjoy her life like a senior citizen.

Two Amur tigers have left the park too. 1 Male and 1 Female.
1 tiger has gone to Magdeburg Zoo, Germany and the other tiger has gone to a zoo in Czech Republic.

Also a Pallas cat have been sent to Riga Zoo, Latvia last week.
 
Pernilla Thalin has informed that she not will be the new CEO of Nordens Ark. The board of the park is now looking for a new CEO for Nordens ark.
 
5 Lesser white-fronted gesse which came from Nordens Ark and were given to a re-introduction programm are wintering all 5 in the Netherlands and northern Germany.
 
Nordens Ark has been succesfull in breeding the Great capricorn beetle ( Cerambyx cerdo ), a threatened species in Sweden :).
 
0.0.2 Wolverine pups have been born to one of the two Wolverine pair in the park. :)

Nordens Ark has together with Snow Leopard Trust, SLT researched about Snow leopards in the wild in Mongolia since 2010. News for this year is that RZSS (Royal Zoological Society of Scotland) will be a part of the project. This project is also supported by the Swedish Postcode Lottery.
 
0.0.3 Amur tiger cubs have been born on April 23 to Sparta (B. 2006 in Wildlife near Vladivostok, Russia) and Bojan (B. 2010 in Tiergarten Stendal, Germany). The couple were also parents to the cubs which were born in 2013.

Sparta is also the most important of Amur tigers in the EEP-program, because she was found like a lonely cub in the wildlife.

At a press conference today has the park presented their new CEO, who will be; Mats Höggren and Linnéa Johansson like deputy manager. Mats is from Kolmården, there he has worked like curator of animals since 2004.

Mats is also a well known profile in the the ''Swedish zoo world'' and he has been president for SDF (Swedish association of Zoos & Aquaria). He was also the leader of the team in SDF which inspected Parken zoo & Ölands Djurpark after the scandals in 2012.

Mats has talked that he wants work to market the park more.

1.0 Wolverine pup have been born on February 21.

In the weekend, another Wolverine male which born last year, will move to GaiaZoo in NL, There he will form a pair with a female.
 
0.1 Eurasian otter have arrived yesterday from Otter-Zentrum, Germany. She's one year and will form a breeding pair with the park´s male.
