Per the comment section on one of African Lion Safari's Instagram posts from a couple weeks ago, the park's youngest calf was born in April 2021 and is named "Maya" so it's likely a female calf. Unsure who the mother of the calf is but I'd assume the father is Johnson as always!
Also while I'm here, I thought I'd mention that I recently found out that Tucker and Joy at Houston recently received a breeding recommendation which many of us already expected was going to occur. I don't think they're going to breed them for at least another two years though considering Joy is only 6 and the SSP recommends against cows breeding before age 8.

Oh my gosh! That makes Jade her only living daughter! I sincerely hope Saint Louis seriously considers bringing in a new bull to breed with their girls now.

With Maliha and Jade getting older, I can only hope Saint Louis acquire a bull asap.
And Priya isn’t getting any younger either.

Alternatively they can try artificially insemination on the three young STL girls, though with Rani's death there would still be no four-generation herd.

I know they use to have a number of adult bulls on site is that no longer the case these days?
They have bulls there still at the Houston, just all of them except Tucker are related to Joy
If the inquiry is about ALS, yes - although there’s only one viable breeding bull.

I wonder why Cincinnati is changing Yasmin's name to SheRa...
It doesn't sound offensive to my ear and none of the other Dublin elephants are getting name changes, so just changing one of their names (The name of the oldest animal at that!) puzzles me. Did the North American Asian Elephant Population already have a Yasmin or something?
Also: It's interesting to hear that Yasmin/SheRa is Schottzie's niece! Was Schottzie imported from Europe herself? Because I wasn't aware that the North American and European Asian Elephant populations shared much blood in-common.
Let's see: Yasmin/SheRa & Anak are mother & daughter. Kabir is Yasmin/SheRa's son, while Sanjay is Anak's son. Both calves have the same father, correct?
Anak & Kabir are half-siblings. Kabir is Sanjay's half-uncle. Even more interestingly, Kabir & Sanjay are 3/4 siblings! (I think, lol.)
All of that, plus the fact that Yasmin/SheRa is Schottzie's niece makes for, well... Not the broadest of genepools to have imported across the pond, but certainly an interesting one. Lol.
Schottzie was born 1975 at the Copenhagen Zoo. Irma (mother of SheRa) was born there five years earlier in 1970. They’re full siblings. Irma is well represented in Europe.
Kabir and Sanjay share a father:

0.1 Anak (2003) Alexander x SheRa
1.0 Kabir (2017) Upali x SheRa
1.0 Sanjay (2018) Upali x Anak
Upali’s line is well represented line globally. Chester Zoo’s herd is centred around Upali’s daughter and grandaughters; while Upali’s first sons with SheRa and Anak (born 2014) are now at Sydney Zoo in Australia.
Anyone can correct me if I’m wrong, but Yasmin’s late mom(Irma) and Schotzie are siblings and were both born at Copenhagen.
They’re also slightly related to the Rotterdam girls at National as Anak and Trong Nhi share a dad(Alexander at Łódź). There is another European cow at Columbus (Phoebe) who was born to motek and warda in I think Tel Avi. This would make Phoebe Aunt to Anak, and Trong Nhi since Alexander is her full brother.

All of this information is in fact, true. Irma (1970-2023) and Schotzie (born 1975) were indeed full siblings, and Phoebe's parents are Motek (1960-2022) and Warda (born 1958).

Both Phoebe and her older full sister Lilly were transferred to the African Lion safari in Canada, both arrived pregnant through their oldest living brother Alexander who is the father of Anak and Trong Nhi, and Yasmin's second calf Budi who currently lives at the Denver Zoo and had two daughters. Phoebe in 1993 gave birth to a still born female calf and hads had four more calves since then tough only two calves alive today her two oldest sons and Lilly had a daughter Piccolo, and has had five more calves of which four are alive today

When referring to Budi are you referring to Billy who is Yasmin son who has not sired a calf (to my knowledge) or Bodhi who is Phoebe’s son and has sired a daughter named Winnie with Tupelo (from the Houston Zoo) through AI?
Also Phoebe has 3 sons alive today George, Bodhi and Frankie

That would be Billy. Budi's name was changed to Billy in Antwerp I think, but maybe the name change happened in Denver I don't know for sure.
