These are potential 2022 hippo babies in the United States: (No babies are very likely, so medium is the highest for this year.) All of these hippos have a suitable male to breed with.

Medium Likely Births:
- Bibi (Cincinnati Zoo)
- Kasai (Cheyenne Mountain Zoo)

Less Likely Births:
- Boipelo (Dallas Zoo)
- Rosie (Disney's Animal Kingdom)

Very Unlikely but possible Births:
- Fiona (Cincinnati Zoo)
- Any other female Disney Hippos
- Devi (Busch Gardens Tampa)

Bibi- No, probably not going to happen..the zoo will probably have her on contraception as they've stated breeding won't occur for at least another few years, due to spatial reasons.

Kasai- Quite unlikely, the initial recommendation was to breed from either her or her full sister, Zambezi, and since Zambezi has been chosen it appears Kasai will be a non breeding female, at least for now. She's been introduced to some Red River Hogs recently as well for companionship.

Biopelo- She's a chance as she's been recently paired with Gus alongside her daughter, Adanna. Maybe we can expect a calf later this year or next year.

Rosie- She's a possibility as she arrived for the whole purpose of breeding. She was rumoured to be paired with Hans, although there's been no confirmation as of yet.

Fiona- Very unlikely. Same reason as Bibi.

Other female Disney Hippos- The four older Disney girls are very unlikely; none have breeding within the last decade. It appears breeding efforts will be focused on Tuma and Rosie.

Devi- Moyo's been designated as a non breeding male due to his representation, so the chances of him breeding with Devi are very slim.

Viviana and Tequila are not included in the breeding program. Ramona may not be bred due to her uncertain lineage. Mezcal and Panchita may still be included though.

Since Mezcal’s mother is not being bred for her background, Mezcal is unlikely to breed too. Isn’t she?

Probably not. I don't see any of the Disney females breeding aside from Tuma and Rosie.

Do you know why Tequila isn't being included in the breeding program? If Ramona's being excluded too than her daughter, Panchita probably will be as well.

Based off Cincinnati's recent social media teasing and an inside source it seems this is quite the opposite. Not wanting to breed when Tucker was sent there on a recommendation of breeding would of been a questionable decision. I don't think the SSP would make a recommendation if space was to be an issue, but of course I could be wrong.

According to the Cincinnati Zoo's Facebook Page, Bibi is actually pregnant! The baby is due in August.

Does anyone have any ideas for where Woodland Park's hippos (Guadalupe & Waterlily) could possibly go? I believe that they could possibly move to Cheyenne Mountain, since their exhibit is quite big, and Lupe would be able to mate with Biko, their bull.

I know that there was talk of Guadalupe being sent to Albuquerque to breed with Moe. I do not know if this is still the plan, though.

Don’t think CMZ has the room for 4 adult females, a bull, and calves though.
I believe WPZ is reconsidering sending the girls out so perhaps they will remain at the zoo itself.

I believe that plan was cancelled due to Karen giving birth last year, though I may be wrong
Yes, I believe that is what someone mentioned on some other thread.

@Haley The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo could only take those hippos if they don't want to breed them. That would mean that Biko would have to live alone permanently, and that is not recommended.

Well, if not Cheyenne Mountain, maybe Lupe and Lily could go to San Diego, or maybe just stay at WPZ?

I personally think Lupe and Lily should temporarily go to a new zoo, while the exhibit gets a huge overhaul that includes filtration, an indoor pool, and suitabiliyy for breeding.

San Diego couldn't take either; they don't have the space.

I think they'll be remaining at WPZ at least for the time being. Once a confident decision can be made, and a home can be found, then they'll be moved, but I believe they don't have a suitable destination for them atm.

How many hippos is Milwaukee able to house after the renovation? Would we be able to take on additional hippos or was the added space just to meet the modern requirements for two hippos?

Does anyone know where Frankie at Wild Wilderness Drive-Through Safari now lives at? I know that the safari closed on March 9th, but I haven't heard anything on where Frankie ended up moving to.
