“Zuri” is, indeed, her birth name. “Seyia” was only her “public name” at Cincinnati because of a donor paying to “rename” her due to there already being an animal named “Zuri” at the Zoo.
Yes, thank you, now I remember it was the same thing with her ex-mate Utenzi/Faru, though I thought it was some sort of a public distraction matter rather than another animal with the name.
 
It is good to see that the MCZ has over the last few years managed to transfer from maintaining a - then - no longer reproducing and senescent southern black rhino pairing to getting involved in the AZA eastern black rhino program again. I keep fingers crossed for some good tidings and happy events into the future!
