North American Malayan Tiger Population

Tulsa Zoo has announced that Ava is pregnant. The sire would be Raja, who moved there in February 2023 when the Exotic Feline Breeding Compound closed.

Tulsa Zoo on Instagram: "Big news on a special day! We’re thrilled to announce that Ava, one of our female Malayan tigers, is pregnant! Not only that, but it also happens to be her 10th birthday! As a critically endangered species, Malayan tigers are facing a severe population decline, with fewer than 150 remaining in the wild due to habitat loss and poaching. Ava’s pregnancy is a significant milestone for us as part of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums’ (AZA) Malayan Tiger Species Survival Plan (SSP). This program is dedicated to maintaining a sustainable population of Malayan tigers under human care. While Ava has access to her dayroom on exhibit, she may choose to spend more time behind the scenes. Our veterinary staff and Ava’s care team are closely monitoring her at this time and we will continue to provide updates as her journey progresses."
 
Correct me if I’m wrong about this individual, but I may have a feeling that this is might be the “Cinta” that was transported to Dickerson Park:

• 1.0 Cinta (January 5th, 2014 - Paka x Mek Degong; Fresno Chaffee)


If this is true, then “Cinta” would be over ten years old, not nine as stated in the article.

This one might be him as it stated he was born in California (Fresno) though yes, the age of nine is certainly quite a bit off from his actual age of eleven.

I can confirm through the San Diego Zoo's Facebook fan group that Cinta at San Diego Zoo was indeed the animal who moved to Dickerson Park Zoo.
