North American Population Lists

As many of you know, I create lists of all the individuals of certain species in North America. I post these lists on the forum so people can use them when they're visiting facilities and keep themselves updated on the conservation work being conducted.

Species with Lists
Bonobo
Bornean/Sumatran Orangutan
Western Lowland Gorilla

Species In-Progress
All Gibbons
Chimpanzees
Dhole
Koala

What species would you like to see me create lists for?

I think gibbons would be a very good idea.

On another thread me and some fellow zoochatters were trying to find out more about gibbons kept currently and historically within Mexican zoos.

We managed to find out quite a lot of information about the individuals kept. This included info on their names, genders and ages and where they originally came from.

You are very welcome to include what we have managed to so far find out for Mexico as part of the gibbons in North America thread.

It would be interesting to have a Snow Leopard or Sumatran tiger population list in North America. They are very attractive animals and I find somewhat rare that they still don't have a population list.

Those wouldn't take very long to make. They're both species that got a lot of attention from the press, so there are lots of articles about them online.

In January I will post the current population of Orangutans, Bonobos, and Western Lowland Gorillas. I'll also try to have Chimpanzees and Gibbons done by then - they're just a little harder to do. I may also post the current Dhole population and Maned Wolf population as well.

Species I've been considering doing lists for are Maned Wolf, Giant Otter, Colobus Monkey, African Wild Dog, Przewalski's Horse, Tasmanian Devil, Tapirs, Babirusa, Sun Bears, Andean Bear, Fossa, Tree-Kangaroo, Giant Anteater, Spotted Hyena, and Sichuan Takin

The bolded species would be my interest. Przewalski’s Horse, Babirusa, and Takin are listed facility-wise on Thylo's hoofstock thread, so perhaps less priority on those.

I didn't bold Sun Bear because currently the species is dying out in American zoos since they haven't been breeding. Now Sloth Bear could be worth doing though.

It hasn't been updated in a year and a half, but I have created a thread for bears not native to the North American continent. I stopped doing individual data, but that could serve as a template for finding the right facilities to check if one wanted to:

Status of Exotic Bears in U.S. Zoos

Pretty sure we only have around a dozen permanent resident manatees, a lot of them are rehabbed and go back out.

Then that list should be easy! Haha. I know some are very uneasy about zoos/aquaria holding cetaceans/sirenians, but I would love to see more manatees at more institutions.

Is there a Guam kingfisher population list? I know this bird is extinct in the wild and as far as I know it’s only found in US zoos.

A population list for lions would be near impossible, unfortunately. I'm nearly done going through and updating my felids in the US thread, though.

I feel like Malayan Tigers could possibly be done, at least for the United States and/or Canada. The lion list, however, is indeed near impossible.
