Because the population is so small, I would actually say it is worth a shot. Some zoos have policies that allow their staff to share a lot about their animals and the genetic line they've maintained. Two facilities have even sent me information about all of the animals of a particular species they've ever held, and where they all originally came from. However, that is not to say that compiling all of the necessary information won't be very difficult, or that you will be successful.
After working for a month on the Japanese serow list. I finished my list. I am unsure if Roosevelt zoo still keeps them. It was quite easy to make this list since Zoo Granby is my home zoo and I saved up things about them. I am thinking about making another smaller list. I find it quite fun to search things and learn at the same time. I will not be making a thread since it is a small population and the thread will just die.

I am not sure if Granby is trying to breed them but they said they brought Canelle to be a companion for Phong. I hope as well for this pair to breed.
The zoo still lists Holly the Asiatic black bear on the website, it seems like she is still alive according to this album of photos published on August 1, 2024. Thank you for the help. Do you know who were her parents?

I am not really planning to post it since this population is old and small, I am just making it for fun and learning new things. I know this isn't the thread to post individual population lists but I am open to any help. I have consulted Zootierlist and this Zoochat thread.
Actually after searching for a bit. Cannelle and Phong(Asian black bear) are actually Mother and son pair. Cannelle produced 5 offspring in the Sigean African reserve(France) then Cannelle moved to Pairi Daiza with Phuket and Pako(Asian black bear). Phong and Cannelle are now reunited, so no breeding. Just really a companion. I do not know why Zoo Granby never mentioned that.
There are actually 13 holders of Asian Black bear. Mostly only hold around 1 of them with a total population of 17 Asian black bear.
Then I’d say it’s a great idea. Similar to the sun bear thread, the population is declining and it will show how much is left at an easier level.
I think I would be interested to be creating a red panda thread. It would be quite difficult. Anyone wants to help me create? Also can non-aza accredited zoo can be in population list like Greater Vancouver zoo?
