Now there are 3 species of alligator snapping turtles
It appears based on genetics and morphology that there are 3 species of alligator snapping turtle instead of just the one that was recognized. As sadly seems to be the norm, they are endangered.
Are all three of the alligator snapping turtles in captivity?
Has anybody ever seen any of these species in the wild?
