Ocean Dream Samudera recently opened two new exhibits:
  • A sunbear exhibit featuring a pair named Polo and Boy. One of could be a retiree from the Various Animals Show, last seen on stage back in 2017. Surprisingly the exhibit looked pretty adequate and spacious, hoping that Polo is a female so they could mate and populate the exhibit in the coming years.
  • A Timor deer exhibit called Deer Island where visitors could feed them for a few rupiahs. The sandy flooring emulates their scrubland habitat in Komodo Island, apparently.

Here's hoping they could exhibit crocodilians in the future, hopefully with underwater viewing. I feel that ODS is slowly becoming a zoo-theme park hybrid more than the oceanarium/marine park it was back in the day, with more and more non-aquatic animals being added in.Previously they added binturongs and more birds.

Ocean Dream Samudra has been rebranded simply as Samudra Ancol, as the park has seemingly also try to rebrand themself as both Ancol's marine park and a zoo (Faunaland is owned by a private-company separate from Ancol Taman Impian). The park is mostly known for their dolphins.

These are some summary of their current collection:
  • Already existing marine species remaining In the park are Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin, South American sea lion, and South American fur seal.
  • In the past, Samudra Ancol has set up several aviaries for macaw, cockatoos, Bali myna, Java peafowl, and brahminy kite, as well as exhibits for Javan binturong, Asian forest tortoise and other turtles, a domestic duck pond, and a koi pond.
  • An Humboldt penguin house as the park's most recent major addition since 2019 also contained the Asian small-clawed otter exhibit, an large tank that is used for a mermaid show that houses a school of milkfish, and two touch pools with hawksbill sea turtle, bamboo sharks, and starfish.
  • Samudra Ancol later set up exhibits for Javan rusa deers and sun bears (The latter is a long-time species kept off-display and for shows).
  • Recently, Samudra Ancol has set up new exhibits for three alpacas and dusky pademelons, these animals presumebly came from private suppliers.

I uploaded 64 photos into the gallery from my August visit to Samudra Ancol and I was surprised to see that ZooChat appeared to lack even a single image from this zoo.
