0:0:2 Eastern Bongo - 0:0:1 from Nuremberg and 0:0:1 from Eskilstuna
1:1 Ocelot - 1:0 from Krakow and a female from Attica, Greece
1:0 Red Panda from Berlin Tierpark - female due to arrive shortly
0:1 Tamandua from Olomouc

Other news includes the birth of a Serval and the death of the zoo's oldest White Rhino aged 43

Some supplements to earlier posts:
From zoo were stolen six emperor tamarins and one Goeldi's marmoset.
Zoo has a pair of bongo, female from Nuernberg (since 2010) and male from Eskilstuna (arrived in 2011). Animals are on common enclosure since this spring.
Zoo has red panda female - she waited for male some years.
Among arrivals is also wolverine - the only one in Poland.
Zoo had only one rhino - he was survivor from flood in Praha Zoo. He spend almost ten years in Opole.
 
It is first wolverine in Poland after 40 years break. Last three were kept in Kraków Zoo. At the beginning of 70's they escaped from zoo and nobody known what was happened to them (Kraków Zoo lies in big forest complex).

OK. Any estimate of the wild population?
Is there any monitoring of them?
 
In 70's only democratic opposition was monitoring in Poland.
So maybe next generation of wolverines still roaming Wolski Forest. Who knows? :D
 
I will be going to Opole on Tuesday, and from what I have heard, it seems to be quite a good zoo, but other than that I can't really find a huge amount about it.
I was just wondering how long it takes (roughly) to see the zoo properly, and if there are any things that are easily missed or particularly important to pay attention to (including especially unusual species).
And also, I will be visiting on the 1st of November and this is a public holiday in Poland and in my experience a lot of stuff closes for the day, so is anyone able to confirm that the zoo will be open on this day? (Lodz Zoo is closed!) The website doesn't mention a closure (as far as I can see - it's all in Polish) so I assume it is open, and is the zoo likely to be extremely busy?

I think that zoo will be open on Tuesday (surprised to read that Łódź Zoo is closed that day). Zoo shouldn’t be busy because Poles traditionally spend this day in cemeteries. How many time you need to see all? It depends on weather. Zoo has only some pavillons open to public (Monkey House, two Giraffe Houses, Amphibian House (rebuilt after big fire in 2012) and Invertebrates House. Opole Zoo is the most beautiful zoo Poland (not the best – this is definitely Wrocław) but the best time to visit it is from May to September. Tour is guided good so you shouldn’t leave anything. You can buy new guidebook at cash desk. The most interesting are: good collection of primates, specially lemurs and South America monkeys (you can compare gorilla enclosure to this in Warsaw), nice South America paddocks, the only wolverines in Poland, the biggest group of potoroo in Europe, sea lions pool, common enclosure for maned wolves and howlers, new common aviary for several parrot species (I didn’t see it yet) all in a unitary style (zoo was completely rebuild after big flood in 1997). Zoo Opole seems to have a lot of plans for the future. On the map, these projects are named. There are some works going on currently, but I'm not sure which project is being worked on.
Future projects will be
- An aquarium. This would be a nice addition to the already existing Insectarium and Terriarium buildings.
- An Exotarium. Not sure what to expect of that but I guess a tropical pavillion with a variety of species is a possibility
-Penguins
-Orang-utans (These will be the only ones in Poland I believe)
-Lions
-Siberian tigers
-Indian rhinoceroses

Seems like they are adding some fan favorites. Makes sense.
 
I wonder if the constuction works I saw last month are for these okapis.
 
Does anyone know if they have Pallas Cats (Manul) in Opole? I saw a picture from 2016 but they are no longer listed on the website so I assume not, just wondering!
