I understand that with Africans an older male will serve as a sort of mentor for younger bulls when they get kicked out of their natal herd, do Asians have a similar system or are bulls on their own once they leave their mothers? Is it possible that Rex might serve as a sort of mentor for him or will they likely leave each other alone if they meet at all?

I'm almost positive they will be managed separately.
 
Condolences to OKC Zoo staff, members, and elephants on Malee's passing. This must be terrible for all. I've loved getting to see Malee online over the last 4 years and have loved seeing everyone fall in love with her. Although nothing will make this easier, please know that the Smithsonian will use her valuable information in their continued work to bring about a cure or vaccine for this deadly disease. My heart and my daughter's heart go out to you.
