MAMMALS
New species.
Canadian Black Bear (Ursus americanus americanus) 1930-1941
Large White Pig (Sus scrofa) 1997
Drill revised date 1947-1974 not 1951-1974.
Boris identified as Western Chimpanzee. Subspecies now ammended to 1950-still in the zoo.
Orang Utan data revised after looking at the studbook. Rajang was not the first Orang Utan born at Chester, there were two babies born in 1964 which did not survive.
North American Raccoon earliest date now 1935
scientific name of Northern Black-footed Cat (Felis nigripes nigripes) has been ammended from the incorrect (Felis nigripes thomasi).
Sri Lankan Elephant (Elephas maximus maximus) ammended to 1941-still in the zoo
Indian Elephant scientific name ammended to(Elephas maximus indicus) and includes specimens formerly listed as Elephas maximus hirsutus.
Common Hippopotamus re-classified as East African Hippopotamus. Generino who came from Naples was a pure East African Hippopotamus.
Llama earliest date now 1935.
Since the last update I have learnt that the male giraffe Patrick 1985-1993 was a pure bred Rothschild's and not a hybrid as I assumed. The list has been ammended. Also the last Masai Giraffe at Chester died in 1992 and not as formerly posted, 1989, and the first known arrival was 1959 not 1961.
Mistake corrected. Replaced Tetrillini with the correct tribe
