Has anyobdy here been to or heard of the tropical asia exhbit that used to be at the wild animal park? it was located where the lorikeets are now.

That aviary was actually built in 1976 as a Tropical America aviary. Though I'm not sure when it became Tropical Asia...sometime between 1985 and 1994.

In 1976....

Black-tailed Marmoset
Mexican Red Brocket Deer
Squirrel Monkey

Black Currasow
Black-headed Caiques
Channel-billed Toucan
Lichtenstein's Oriole
Muscovy Duck
Red-billed Toucan
White-breasted Toucan

Basilisk
Boa Constrictor
Green Iguana

I'm really going need to do some deep research if you want the Asia Collection, but I doubt I have that information.

I have a map that I'm guessing was 1991/1992 and it was Tropical Asia at that point. I'm trying to remember the exhibit from that visit, and from what I remember there were snake-necked turtles in the entry way, and I vaguely remember hornbills but I couldn't tell you what species.

This is probably all I have...

a pair of Javan Rhinoceros Hornbills imported from Indonesia in July 1989 in the Tropical Asia Aviary.

thanks for the help on this one guys as i like to learn about past exhibits and species that are "extinct" in captivity. Would the park or the zoo be able to send me any information on an exhibit such as this like a species list or something that would tell me what they acquired or hatched?

Maybe, but as I always say...It never really hurts to ask. The worst thing they could say is sorry.

Someone there is the Animal Records person. This is what they do. They might well do it for you!

It would take a team of people to maintain what Marvin Jones created and collected. Imagine what he would have thought of zoochat!

how would i reach this records person? is there a way to e-mail him/her or is there just a normal mailing address to reach them at?

josef lindholm has told me today a little bit what he remembers was housed in this exhibit. His list includes:

Javan Kingfisher
Common Paradise Kingfisher
Cotton Pygmy Goose
Vinous Throated Parrotbills
Forsten's Imperial Pigeons
