hey has anyone got any old pictures of Tywcross zoo from when it opened up until the early nineties? Would be good to see pictures of animals that arent there anymore or have moved location.

I have some from up to 25 years ago. The one that flashes up in my mind is of a young proboscis monkey, but I have a fair collection. It will take me some time to find the slides, scan them and process the images - so don't hold your breath, but I'll see what I can do.

Thanks Alan, Id love to see some pictures. Of animals that aren't at the zoo anymore would be great as well as some random ones of animals that are there now, i.e gorillas maybe?

Older British guidebooks rarely fail to give you impressions of how the grounds and exhibits were at the time, whereas today the photos are often not too different from those in any generic animal book, i.e. only of the animals and sometimes only of their faces. So look out for old Twycross guidebooks on eBay mate. I will be selling a few in the upcoming weeks but not too many.
