Western Lowland Gorilla, Timu, passed away. She was the matriarch of the multi-generational family group in Hubbard Gorilla Valley. She is known for being the World’s first successful test tube gorilla.

On October 4th, it was announced that the zoo acquired several species of sea star and sea urchin from the Butterfly House & Aquarium in South Dakota.

Omaha has a new female Red Panda. Saw her on exhibit this morning-she's much more active then the previous ones.

On February 21st, the zoo officially announced they acquired a (0.1) red panda named Star/Starlight from the Seneca Park Zoo in New York.

The calf has been named "Hondo", meaning "Warrior" or "Fighter".
