One Day Visit

I’m visiting the zoo on Sunday 4th May, the opening hours are 10:00-5:30, and i’m just wondering what is the best route to fit all the animals in one day. I’ve come up with route, but i would like some advice on what could be changed, the best order to see the animals to maximise my day, and if there is anything worth giving a miss. I’ve heard others say skip the aquarium and butterflies. I’ll link the route what i came up with. The route includes doing HoA first thing then following this route, but is it better to go a different way first? Any help is appreciated.

It's clear to some of us by your map that you mean Chester... But you've not once mentioned that in your post.

You may be able see all the exhibits in a day at Chester, but, as I'm sure you realise, you will be lucky to see some of the species. @bongorob and I spent 2 full days there this week without seeing the fossa, giant anteater, tamandua, Tomistoma, pademelon, giant otter, giant river toad or Oustelat's chameleon. Neither did we see tiger or Malayan tapir, but we only went along that path once. And we didn't go to see the butterflies, penguins or lions or into the elephant house either. At the moment several enclosures are empty (due to animals moving to the new African area etc) and there is not much activity in many of the aviaries - hopefully because many species are nesting at the moment.
I would recomment a visit to the new 'Heart of Africa' section (although I still think of it as Grasslands) which you missed off your route plan. I particularly recommend the Hidden Savanna house. I suggest that you either start or finish at HoA, as it's beside the entrance and it is likely to be busy for most of the day. My final advice is to think about your priorities, it is fine to choose not to visit the Butterfly House or the Aquarium or anywhere else - but also consider what you would be most disappointed to miss, so you can decide to revisit if you dip out first time.

Unfortunately we did see Meerkats and Chimpanzees.:p
