This is true but breeding Bornean orangutans is intentionally slowed down as far as I know.

Zoo Aalborg have announced their only remaining male Bornean orangutan, 33 year old 'Djimat' is being moved to Dudley Zoo, which will bring Dudley up to 2:2. Aalborg will go back into Orangutans once a new facility is built.

Sumatran Orangutan born at Chester zoo on June 19th, gender still unknown. ('Puluh' × 'Emma')

Does anyone know what sex this baby turned out to be? For the record, from a photo of it, I identified it as female, but others disagreed and said male. So who was right?...
