Noah's Ark Zoo Farm Ostrich Killed by Big Cat

Sorry i mis-informed you guys there. It was actually a red titi monkey, not a mongoose lemur. Still as bad, but don't want to leave you with wrong information. :)

Sounds like a typical fox attack to me although I've not heard of a fox killing a bird that big before. We've had flamingos and a white stork killed by them but never an ostrich. Will have to keep an eye on the cassowaries...

Surely you must be kidding. A cassowary is not something to be on taken easily. The other animals I can believe although the titi monkey would be very unusual.

Personally I don't put much credence on a fox-attack in the case of the ostrich. Ostrich deal with a wealth of small predators in Africa. I would be more willing to bet feral/loose dogs or human.

Yes I was kidding about the cassowaries, think they'd stand up ok to a fox, but I would also have said that about an ostrich!

A email came through today....

"Noah's Ark Zoo Farm will be celebrating love this week by introducing a
new male Ostrich to join the remaining female Ostrich, Olive, just in
time for Valentine's Day.

The decision to bring in a new male comes after one of the female
Ostriches, Olivia, sadly died following what is thought to be a fox
attack last month. Head keeper, Chris Wilkinson, tells us more. "Male
Ostriches are very territorial and quite aggressive toward any
predators. They have incredibly strong legs which can be quite deadly.
We hope that the new Ostrich will protect the remaining Ostrich from
any possible threats as well as giving us baby Ostriches in the not too
distant future".

I guess the big cat theory didnt last long!

I still think a certain great ape species that walks on two legs is responsible.
