Blackpool Zoo other new babies

About 3 weeks ago there were 2 baby red pandas born at the zoo as well as a reindeer, the keepers have only saw one baby panda at a time though.

This is one of the very few large King Colobus groups in any Zoo worldwide.

Almost certain it is the only large group , according to EAZA there are none held in other regions of the world . Would love to see this group in a much bigger and particularly , taller cage .

Duisburg in Germany have the only other sizeable group according to ISIS, but not as large as Blackpool's. There are only about six holders in Europe, three of which are in the UK (Blackpool, Marwell, Paignton)

Brilliant news, especially about the pandas and the colobus! Blackpool seems to be having a pretty good year for baby animals so far, fingers crossed their luck continues. :)

By the way, anyone have any idea of how quickly baby red pandas grow up? I ask because I'm going to in Blackpool at the end of September and would love to see the babies and try to photograph them - no idea how big or how active they will be by then though!

I go about once a week as I live in Blackpool, I dont know how quick they grow but theres a couple of photos of them on the zoo facebook. Its a very rare glimpse to get them.

I have managed to get some film footage of the baby otters, they are about 9 weeks old now. The best time to see them alltogether is afternoon.

Have they bred any pengiuns yet - the penguin pool looks a good one also have their carribean flamingos ever bred?

The pengiuns did lay eggs a few weeks ago, but sad to say nothing ever came of them. There is one baby flamingo getting hand reared.

Thanks for the info - at least one baby is doing well! :) Any idea how old it is or whether it is still staying in the nestbox, or whether its out and about yet? I'm afraid my knowledge of how fast Red Pandas grow is nonexistent! ;)
