Blackpool Zoo other new babies

Have they bred any pengiuns yet - the penguin pool looks a good one also have their carribean flamingos ever bred?
I was discussing this post while travelling on the train to Frankfurt Zoo with friends, and we wondered how Blackpool Zoo could breed a species of Flamingo they have not kept for over 10 years as the current Flock are all GREATERS and not Caribbean!?

According to ISIS Blackpool has 6.8.1 Phoenicopterus ruber (American aka Caribbean) and no P. roseus (greater). Perhaps this is out of date, although their own website also states American flamingo:

Hope you have a nice time in Frankfurt.

Hi, I'm afraid you are mistaken here. The blackpool flock are Carribean (sometimes referred to as Cuban or American) flamingos (Phoenicopterus ruber). Perhaps you have got your info the wrong way around, and they used to have greater flamingos and now have Carribean. They have bred them this year, but young/eggs in the past have been taken by gulls (so I am told).

I'm afraid it's not possible for zoogiraffe to be mistaken.

Why? We all make mistakes, and to many people one flamingo is much like another. Easy mistake to make. I've also been informed that the blackpool flock of Carribeans have been there for almost 20 years (but this info is a little flaky).

I had a look on zootierlister and it says Blackpool have Caribbean Flamingo Phoenicopterus ruber

Will keep looking to see if I can find some more

I wish it was true that i never made a mistake but i`m afraid its not true,i`m just like every one else and its is possible for me to make i mistake which,it appears,i have here it certainly will not be the first time so will hold my hands up and say i`m wrong now!

We will let you off just this once ;) otherwise we won't be able to keep picking your brains. As some one with quite a renowned bad memory (it's legendarily bad) I'm always impressed with how much knowledge people on here have at their finger tips.

I Visited Blackbrook in March this year and both Carribeans and Greaters were on Display,I don't know how the Carirbeans would loose eggs to gulls as they are in an avairy! But hope they have managed to breed them, was disapointed to see the carribeans clipped dispite being in a large, lovely avairy.
