I agree the Bird Aviaries on the North Bank have seen a lot of significant breeding successes, and still hold an interesting range of species. But they do rather represent the 'old' London Zoo and maybe they get byepassed by all but bird enthusiasts. I'm not saying I would like to see them go(I wouldn't) but I can see why the zoo might want to replace them.
The problem with this area of the Zoo is there is only a fairly narrow level area along the top, then the steep drop down to the canal. Not ideal for larger animal exhibits.
