Zoo Parc Overloon Overloon zoo news

A new clip about Ngyyuwe. Okapi are mentioned in the clip, as are African bull frogs and Electric blue day geckos which will also be included. The clip and the message by Zoo Inside feature images of a greenhouse under construction.

Okapis have been officially confirmed. They will only get males- for now at least. They will apparently live together with the dikdiks and yellow backed duikers, and also together with birds, even though which exact species that are going to be in the enclosure are not mentioned, but likely the turaco, spoonbill and stork. ( a Doue style aviary?)

I came across an article mentioning that Ngyuwe apparently will open in early July. I have not yet seen this info confirmed on ZooParc's own pages.

They certainly put that one up fast!

The article also mentions plans for an Asian zone, possibly already to be constructed in 2026.

That makes sense, when I visited the Asian zone was more of a buffer zone, with mostly "leftover" South American species from before Madidi was constructed and that was the South American region. I'm very curious what they're planning, as Ngyuwe's design and species lineup looks extremely good!

I can confirm this after listening to the podcast of ZooInside with the Zoological manager of Libema (the company behind Overloon, Beekse Bergen,...). The plan is to let the pygmy hippos in the indoor quarters in the next 1 and a half weeks, and to hopefully open in early July indeed.
