Paignton Zoo Paignton News 2020

Visited today but could only see one female lion despite going back 3 times! Does anyone have any news about them or any future plans?

The male is normally off show at the back (can be seen from the shelter opposite the Cassowary) but there will be moves soon as they are related.

@TriUK where are Yali and Arya moving too? I hope at least one of them stays in England! @TriUK is Luchu also moving soon as he is a similar,if not the same, age as the Lion siblings Yali and Arya?

The extremely heavy rain last week has washed away some of the path in the ape islands cul de sac, so it's blocked off.

I believe MagpieGoose was able to go into the Ape House a couple of days ago but it wasn't open this morning.

The lone lesser adjutant stork wasn't on show and there was no sign on the enclosure. It occurred to me that if he has left the zoo, the roseate spoonbills would be better displayed there than in their current aviary.

Disappointing that we've lost another species, and one that was a rarity in the UK. I understand however if the male needed to be relocated, but there were big plans for Greater Adjutants once they'd learned how to keep the Lesser's - I wonder if now is the time?

Probably not. And I would be surprised if any are available.

A Gentle Lemur

They're a new pair, so I doubt there will be any changes in the near future :)

Dalmatian Pelicans - a new male has arrived. I have no further details but I was pleased to hear the news because for the last 2 or 3 visits I've seen only two pelicans and wondered what was going on. They can hide on the island behind the luxuriant foliage everywhere.
