Paignton Zoo Paignton Zoo 2021

A new update on their website now states that the Ape House ‘will be closed until further notice’. I hope the customer service team are offering slightly reduced entry fees or at least half price returns. Though it’s the off-season, it’s a very expensive family day out when so many areas are closed/empty at once.
At least there is a flag pole!
Holding back my immediate response.
I suspected this though having seen the barrier they've erected. They will probably say you can still see the apes outside, but these are individuals who don't even go out much in the summer. Not to mention that the cul-de-sac is still closed off so viewing places around the islands are limited.

I strongly suspect they are taking advantage of the slow season to get some important repair/maintenance done - in which case I imagine you'll have cause to be happy about this in the longer term.

I’ve got no problem with them doing maintenance. The problem I have is that there are so many closed houses & empty exhibits all at once. Why can’t the ‘job list’ be triaged? If areas, like the boardwalks & ramps have been condemned during inspections and core attractions (giraffe, nocturnal & ape houses) closed, then paying single-visit guests should be treated with more respect by offering a discount. I’m ok, I have a pass, but I want people to visit and feel positive.

Ape house now ‘closed until further notice’.
Yesterday, the gorilla-side ramp was still unfinished and the orang-side one was being dismantled. Given the speed at which the work is being done, the inevitable delays over the festive period, and everything else, I doubt it will reopen until the end of January. Obviously I would love to be proved wrong.
