Paignton Zoo Paignton Zoo news 2025

On a visit yesterday, it was very quiet, I noticed that the ice cream hut next to the tigers has been demolished along with one of the netted aviaries opposite the cassowary. The young cassowary has grown significantly and was very active with its Dad.
I’m not sure if the Emperor Tamarin group has been reduced but I’ve only seen one on recent visits?
There are two male Pileated Gibbons in the vet centre cage, presumably preparing to be moved on?
The Bug house, recently reopened following its latest renovation, is looking good with an interesting spider collection.
The wallabies are looking much more confident and it’s nice to see them up closer, but I still feel that whole hillside is ‘wasted’ and needs to be used as an area to showcase animals once again, with the redwood trees there, it would suit a mountainous North American species.
Fingers crossed they secure investment very soon!

What spider species were there out of curiosity? And were the Coconut Crabs on display?
