if i remember right when i was seven paington zoo had crocodile enclosure that was just a square pool with no glass in front of it like they could walk out freely please tell me me if i am going crazy.

If this was in the old [[and very attractive] reptile house, I seem to remember the fronts of the enclosures were open from about waist height upwards, so if you were really silly, you could climb in with the crocodiles, or drop a small child in. But, no, the crocodiles couldn't walk out. Otherwise, they'd have walked out, wouldn't they?

You really think 10 years on, considering how much welfare and behaviour research has increased and moved on, they would still have something relatively unsafe like that? Especially considering the ridiculous culture of suing/claiming compensation we live in!
