A Facebook just confirmed this. Pictures are included. They added some climbing structures and off-ground hutches for the porcupines to the marmot exhibit.

According to a Pairi Daiza facebook fan group and a french zoo forum Pairi Daiza has crowned lemurs as a new species since a few weeks.

They are living together with ring-tailed lemurs, red ruffed lemurs and black-and-white ruffed lemurs on a small island.

I did not personally find the lemur island at Pairi to be that small, both in terms of indoor and outdoor areas, but four species seems like a lot for that area.

The only lemur species that has a large group is the ring-tailed lemurs (I think close to 20 animals when I visited last, this will no doubt have changed as I last visited in late 2019). The two ruffed lemur species are represented by bachelor groups, one is a trio and one is a pair.
I think there’s a male overpopulation of crowned lemurs in Europe at the moment, so wouldn’t be surprised if the new animals are a bachelor group as well...

You’ve completely missed the point (or chosen to). The criticism (irritation) was solely aimed at whoever thinks this is the best way to show appreciation for the invaluable work the NHS do.

Having worked in the medical field in New Zealand, I can honestly say anyone who has worked a day providing frontline healthcare would appreciate a better wage, increased funding for their department, people staying home/using common sense etc. far more than a bunch of people clapping for them.

Paying taxes are all well and good; but that’s a given. People wanting to do something productive have (instead of clapping) taken the initiative to do sponsored walks etc. and raised millions.

A female golden takin calf was born last week. Mother is Yein, father Tchan-Ku. The mother and calf are still being kept in an off-show area temporarily to get stronger after the birth.

And a second golden takin calf was born on March 8th.

They seem to be doing well with this species, as there were also two juveniles at the time of my visit in early September of 2020.

According to a Facebook message of the zoo, the two received crowned lemurs are males. They are named Oups (2 years) and Mimi-Chiku (4 years).

According to 'Walrus Network' Tania one of the female walrusses that came from Valencia to Pairi Daiza last year and first made a stop in Hamburg for breeding purposes is actually pregnant and is expected to give birth in the next few months.

Pairi Daiza has now confirmed on their Facebook Page that walrus Tania is pregnant and expected to give birth in May.

Let us hope everything goes well and this will be a successful breeding.

With the current Covid-19 situation my plans to go to Pairi Daiza again late May/early June are very much in question at this time, but if it does go ahead a baby walrus would be a very nice extra thing to see.

Pairi Daiza has received 6 new raccoons, that from now on will share the exhibit in The Land of the Cold with the 3 raccoons Pairi Daiza already had. The 6 raccoons came from a wildlife rehab center, as, because raccoons are an invasive species in Europe damaging native habitats and species, they cannot be released again.
