Do you know why Tian Bao has not returned to China and is allowed to stay in Paira Daiza given his age now?
Doesn’t Eric Domb have a good relationship with the Chinese government? Heck, just last month, several news outlets that seem to have ties to the Chinese government reported that president Xi Jinping has replied to a letter from Domb.

Pairi Daiza has received a female Javan mouse deer from Artis Zoo in Amsterdam, while one of their males moved to Amsterdam to form another pair with their female.

A male red-crowned crane (Grus japonensis), named Tody, arrived from Poland to pair with the female Gregoria !

A picture of a white striped dorcopsis has been uploaded to Pairi Daiza’s instagram. Is this a new animal to the collection. Zootierliste says that no collection keeps this species.

The animal arrived from Prague in May. And it is actually a Brown dorcopsis (Dorcopsis muelleri), which is listed on ZTL.

Indeed. There has always been some confusion as to whether the dorcopsis in Europe are Dorcopsis muelleri or Dorcopsis hageni, but despite some zoos still listing their animals as hageni (which Pairi Daiza seems to do too), consensus now seems to be that they are actually muelleri.

To be precise, the consensus is increasingly slanted towards the captive population representing an as-yet-undescribed (but very distinct) taxon belonging to a wild population currently assigned to muelleri - although I believe that Prague *did* have genuine muelleri about a decade ago, the stark difference between this animal and later imports being one of the things which led to the erroneous hageni identification.

Further to the above, this is the original Prague animal, which matches the traditional muelleri phenotype closely:

Whilst this is one of the more recent population which has caused so much confusion:

And this is a genuine hageni:

Is there anywhere I can read more on the taxonomic discussions of the European population? I remember being surprised when I saw the animal in Best as it looked very different from the original animal in Praha and also seemed bigger.

Season Ticket question: I’ve looked at the Paira Daiza website but it’s a bit confusing with info and FAQs relating to both current and past season tickets. I’ve missed the deadline for having season tickets sent to UK before visiting. Does anyone know if you have to purchase your season ticket straight away on arrival or can buy a day ticket and upgrade during the day, like at many other zoos? I have emailed PD but not too sure when they’ll reply so wondering if anyone on here has recent experience of purchasing a season ticket for PD. Thanks, in advance, for your help.

I’ve got an answer from PD, would delete post but can’t see how to.

Myself or another moderator could delete the post for you - but it might be more helpful to other forum users if you provide the answer you received here?

Last year myself and a friend bought two consecutive day tickets each, and learned on arrival that we could upgraded a single ticket to reduced season offer, that would allow us in for the rest of the season at a similar price.

Took a few emails to get the full answer, you can either buy a pass on arrival for €99 or upgrade your day ticket (as you say only one day refunded as at other zoos / attractions) on the day at Membership.

What was the reduced seasonal offer available when you visited and at what time of year?

Cheers
