This seems like a very ambitious project!
I hope with this tank the aquarium building will be repurposed for something else. It is the weakest part of the entire collection in my opinion. The greenhouse will feature a large tank with sharks and fish.

1)Are "the islands of the rising sun" in the same place where Madidi used to be ?
2)Is there a new species where the japanese macaques used to be in the middle kingdom ?
The islands of the Rising Sun are constructed where the squirrel monkey, howler monkey and siamang islands used to be, next to the Mersus Emergo. I believe the squirrel monkey island was the latest version of Madidi, but not the original Madidi (which was located where the penguin and seal exhibit and the lighthouse are now).
I have not yet seen anything about what will be done with the now former Japanese macaque exhibit.
Is there a confirmed date for when the elephants arrive at wmsp?
are they the zoos only african elephants?I haven't heard anything after Suzy and Gitana entered their quarantine period and went off-show after the Easter weekend.
are they the zoos only african elephants?
Did they explain why they decided to phase our African elephants?
Hello again, looking for some help with my visit next month. A few species I have identified through ZTL will be life ticks for me. If anyone could confirm they are still in the collection and where they are located I would much appreciate it!
· Bear cuscus
· Brown dorcoposis
· Cape buffalo
· Corsac fox
· Lyle's flying fox
· Echidna
· Pallas’ squirrel
Thank you![]()
- Bear cuscus: there was a recent post on Pairi Daiza's Facebook with the remaining individual. It lives in the Oasis greenhouse in the 'Cambron Abbey' area.
- Brown Dorcospis: an additional individual arrived recently. Kept in a small paddock next to and an indoor space in the koala house.
- Cape buffalo: in the mixed savanna paddock in The Land of Origins. However they are kept in a separate area with is located quite far in the back, so it might not be the easiest to see them, and you will not see them up close.
- Corsac fox: Not easy to explain, their exhibit is a little hidden. Easiest way to find them is to take the climbing walkway near the smooth-coated otters or the descending walkway which starts with a Chinese gate and courtyard, past the backside of the Chinese restaurant on the walkway than runs alongside the cathedral aviary. Their exhibit is surrounded by a Chinese-style wall.
- Lyle's flying fox: In the last section of the Tropicalia greenhouse, which is the greenhouse between the cathedral aviary and the Chinese temple.
- Echidna: According to Zootierliste kept off-show in the koala house, so highly unlikely to see. Even if they were on-show the chance of seeing them in the koala house (which often isn't open, although you can sometimes look inside from the front side porch) the chance of finding one would be very low.
- Pallas's squirrel: in the same space as the Lyle's flying foxes.
