Pairi Daiza Pairi Daiza News 2025

This is the downside of for profit zoos. I respect the ambition of PD but chasing after black leopards at the expense of species with conservation value is rather depressing.
I never been so enamoured with PD as some people on the Zoochat forum. I often feel the owners have big money clout behind them and tend to have a mentality to do 16 projects half heartedly quickly and open a new area than do it well planned at a slower pace and create quality exhibits. I have seen too many examples with them of sub quality and even unfit for the individual animals they just acquired (f.i. the clouded leopards came to mind) and some of their newly presented animals disappear as quickly as they came after first major fanfare over their arrival and then 3/4 year or 2 years down the line .... all gone or off-exhibit (the blue parrot episode with Singapore/ATCP-BRD ...).

Have to agree with some of your comments here KB. The speed at which they build fresh exhibits is only paralleled by the usually rather poor finish and/or unsuitability. The Land of the Cold area is one such example for me and between all the fancy exhibits all over are several really poor ones. I see that the famous Spix Macaws now find themselves cheek by jowl with domestic goats etc almost as part of the childrens' zoo- they haven't moved but the goats have come to them! Not really a suitable or dignified environment for such a rarity? The whole place is a bit like a Disneyland for animals. That hasn't stopped me visiting though...

Hello, Does anyone happen to have an up-to-date list of the species currently in the Mersus Emergo ? I don't know if the information on Zootierliste has been updated recently or not.
Thanks in advance !

Which exhibit is the Mersus Emergo?

Maybe not that suprising, but the fresco’s at the entrance are a major hint to the species that are going to be present in the sanctuary.(source: the pd youtube channel)

Does anyone know any other animal, other than the manatee, that is not present yet at pd that is displayed on the fresco’s?

There is a Przewalski's horse at the entrance, so maybe another upcoming specie/project. This was something i noticed at my visit for my birthday a year and half ago.

This is likely part of the Chinese village development mentioned at the start of the year by Elias

In other news, they are building a new chinese village and steppe zone with yaks and prewalzski's horses on the dome/personnel parking. Likely the Golden snub nosed monkeys will also move here.
It was also announced that the 'lost world' thing will be just animatronics, so not the natural history museum i had hoped for:(
