ISIS lists 0.1 Pallas Cat at Burford (Cotswold Wildlife Park). Presumably off-show, is there any more news on this?

If this is true then it's brilliant news!!! I love Pallas Cats but I've never seen one; my Dad has seen them at Colchester however which I'm still very jealous of! Cotswold is high up on the 'to-do' list and this has pushed it up even more in my estimations. The number and rarity of the new species they're adding is just outstanding.

It certainly has. Rarities at the mo include:

Ground Cuscus
Jaguarundi
Collared Lemur
Verreux's Sifaka
Purple-Faced Langur
White-Lipped Peccary

And in the future they plan to keep wolverines. But back to the topic, any more news on the pallas cat?

The only one of these species you cannot see any where else in the U.K is the White-lipped Peccary.Ground Cucus = Blackpool,Jaguarundi = Hammerton and i think RSCC,Collared Lemur = Hammerton and Dudley,Verreuxs Sifaka = Belfast and Purple-faced Langur = Edinburgh.Granted they are not in many places but they are about if you look, you also missed Striped Possum off your list.

I was listing rare species seen in captivity, not specific uniquities. And Port Lymnpe also keep sifaka.

For uniqueness go no further than their newly acquired African open billed stork!

Thought that the Sifaka had been moved on from Port Lympne either that or i`m going mad.Don`t any one say i am already because i know that i am.

I think Noel the sifaka did move from Port Lympne but he has been replaced by another group either directly from Paris or another French zoo . I think there is a psot on this somewhere .

Just checked ISIS - Port Lympne now list 2.0 sifakas .

Don't forget Cotswold's pair of broad-nosed gentle lemurs (male in my avatar). The only other ones in the country are at Port Lympne.

According to the Park's facebook, the Pallas Cat is now on show opposite the great grey owls.

White lipped peccary - Dudley zoo for about 18 months now just by the Orangutan house on the lower level.

What?..........I missed seeing the Pallas' cat??

Where are the great grey owls now?

Grr....must plan another trip then...
Yep it was on-show on the day of my visit in december last year, its in the old wooden aviary set back from all the rest.

Pallas cat in the following zoo's according to Zootierlisted
Port Lympne
Edinburgh Zoo
Highland Wildlife Park
but I'm glad to see more of them in this country
I wonder if Dudley Zoo can't find another mate for the Snow Leopard then maybe a Pallas Cat in the enclosure once the male as left

Pallas Cats are also at Howletts and the RSCC and there are none at the HWP at the moment. Think Edinburgh's are going there eventually.
