Great News!
Adelaide Zoo's pair of palm cockatoo's have laid an egg and has hatched. All the information needed is on the site:

Also a bit of extra information, they had been trying to breed this pair for many years but due to the female's age they thought that they would be unable to breed - from an Adelaide Zoo bird keeper.

I believe in a lot of bird species(certainly in Pigeons) old males often become infertile while still active in every other respect and can't fertilize their partners eggs anymore. So it was probably the old male that was preventing breeding?
 
Also the fact that the palm cockatoo is not an easy species to breed - especially with the little availability of them in Australia to find pairs. Rearing of the species in Australia, as stated in the blog has not happened since 1973.
 
I have been informed by a keeper that Adelaide has hatched another palm cockatoo. Currently it is very young, hopefully it survives.
