On September 2017, Taman Safari introduced two giant pandas named Cai Tao and Hu Chun. The arrival process of Cai Tao and Hu Chun had been carried out for a long time, marked by the construction of the "Panda Palace" which would later become their home in Taman Safari. Cai Tao and Hu Chun have traveled more than 4,400 kilometers, taking off from Shuangliu International Airport in Chengdu, China on September 28, 2017, traveling five and a half hours until arriving at Soekarno–Hatta International Airport. After undergoing an adjustment period of approximately two months, the two of them finally began to be displayed on November 2017. In front of Panda Palace are two replica statues of Cai Tao and Hu Chun welcoming the visitors. Panda Palace is also equipped with several facilities including the food court and souvenir store. To avoid noise caused by vehicles, visitors must take a bus to go to the Panda Palace.

Other animals in the Panda Palace are:
* Donkey
* Shetland pony
* White camel
* Large bamboo rat (Rhizomys sumatrensis)
* Goldfish (Oranda, lionhead, and comet breed)
* Koi (Butterfly breed)
* Blue peafowl (Pavo cristatus)
* Purple heron (Ardea purpurea)
* Demoiselle crane (Grus virgo)
* Chinese goose
* Mishmi takin (Budorcas taxicolor taxicolor)
* Red panda (Ailurus fulgens)
* Golden pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus)

The pandas or the three animals that I mentioned?
Sorry, I left it to chance and was not clear in my post: I actually meant to say the other species TSI acquired (like takin and red panda - the latter probably from PR China).

Allthough, this might also apply to the pandas as this was not mentioned in any news features I could find either.

As far as I know, the pandas came from Bifengsia Panda Base.

Animals like golden pheasants, red pandas, and takins came from Wolong.

After a bit more research, apparently the other animals at the Panda Palace came from different places. The red pandas came from Guangzhou (Possibly the Guangzhou Zoo), the golden pheasants and large bamboo rats probably came from local breeders, while the takins origin is unknown, much information I can found about them is just that they came at the same time as Cai Tao and Hu Chun.

The takins were reportedly came from European zoos, the golden pheasants and large bamboo rats presumebly came from local private breeders. Taman Safari have had a breeding success with their mishmi takin and red pandas, hopefully the giant pandas soon as well.

Aside from these, other inhabitants include white stork, Indian peafowl, Bactrian camel, and domestic ponies, donkey, and Chinese goose. The tank that previously houses goldfish and Chinese softshell turtle was under refurbishment during my previous visit (07/2024).

The Panda Palace previously had demoiselle crane, purple heron, grey crowned crane, and mute swan.

I hope the tank gets remodeled into a tank for Chinese giant salamanders, and I hope someday TSI acquires Mongolian wolves for the Panda Palace
