Alex Salmond, former First Minister of Scotland passed away today after giving a speech in North Macedonia, was quite sad and suprised to hear this news - particularly as it was a large part thanks to him the Pandas went to Edinburgh.
Your determination to keep this thread active by finding the vaguest pretext to post about the Edinburgh pandas a year on from their departure is somewhat impressive![]()
Maybe the moderators could changed the zoo to Gian panda future in the UK? It just to let a broader speculation.
Just a suggestion. @GeeZee are you okay with It?
Yes, pandas beeing the polics fluffs that they are it has generated an untirest in zoochaters, rather than hate. What would they care for an animal that is to hard to acquire, are costly and has to many political implications? It's such a shame that these animals come down to that, but that's the truth.Maybe, although I’ve tried to keep this thread on topic for Edinburgh Zoo & Panda related information which was why it was created to begin with, so perhaps that an idea, or that would be an idea for a separate thread later down the line given the new & surprising developments in Vienna & Madrid Zoo etc.
Generally, or at least in recent times on the UK subforum I note that usually when a thread is made about X animal it’s a question relating to either which Zoos have them currently or historically. If there are any further developments I may make a more general thread on one of the other sub forums (not now though as we’ve covered a lot here already anyway).
Not everyone is in to pandas here & I do get it - they can be a white elephant and can be considered “mainstream” rather than a bit niche, but I do have a keen interest in them, as well as bears in general.

I wrote it wrong, sorry. Wanted to say uninterested.I an 'untirest' another American term which hitherto had passed me by..?
