Le Parc des Félins Parc des Felins news

Hi everyone! This isn’t news but I didn’t know where to post my question (please do let me know if there is a more appropriate place for it)..

I’ve been to the Parc Des Félins but I completely forgot to take photos of the signs with the names + background info of the cats :( Does anyone know where I can find the information? I’ve been on their website but I can’t seem to click on “les félins” under the species lists. I’m specifically looking for information on one Siberian tiger (the male in the enclosure opposite the four Asian lion females) and one lion (a young looking male who is in the enclosure opposite the black leopards / in the enclosure with an older looking male next to the new Angola lion cubs).

Thanks in advance and again I’m so sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I just really didn’t know where else to post this.

The signs do NOT have the names of individual cats nor their backgrounds (at least from what I remember). They only have general species information. In my experience, this is true of most zoos (at least bigger zoos). I don't think you will find information on individual cats unless you email the park directly.

I contest it.
In the parc des félins there are signs indicating the individual names of the cats, their date and place of birth, I've seen them this summer.
It's rare in most zoos (except maybe for a small number of species as apes and elephants) but it's actually the case in this park.

There are 2 "Siberian" males at Parc des Félins. Zov arrived this year, he was born in 2020 in Italia (Bussoleng) and is a true Siberian tiger. Arès, born at Parc des Félins in 2014, is a mixbreed.
By young looking male lion, do you meen the white one ? If yes, it's Tankwa, 6 years old, arrived this year from la Flèche. Appart from him, the youngest adult male lions are Chaka and Sab, 7 years old Barbary lions brothers. Gao, the Angola lion male, is 7 too but he has a very big mane, so not young looking.

Interesting - I stand corrected. I guess I never noticed it. I only look at the large species descriptive signs like the one attached here. I guess I don't look at the smaller signage under the viewing shelters, which must be where this information is.

Hi Guys,
Building the katanga lions database. Any chance you can help me out with the info on what can be found in des Felins?

Much appreciated! :)

Can anyone notice any difference between the pictures of the 2 species?

Any heads-ups on how easy the ocelot here are to see / photograph?
The ocelot exhibit is unique - it kind of looks like a large aviary. The design with only a few small viewing windows makes it the most difficult exhibit to photograph in this otherwise outstanding park. If they are in a good spot you can get great photos, but if they are resting on a log or spot of ground that is behind one of the wood sections, then you are out of luck. Here is an overview shot:

Here some updates about the park :

- the zoo is building an hotel, just next to" terre de singes " , the opening is planned for late 2024
- just behind the hotel, a new lion territory is in construction. The opening is planned for late 2024
- Patrick Jardin will retire in a few week, his nephew will be the new director.
- new director means lots of changes. I can't tell more , but the park will change his name in 2024.

Few new babies : Geoffrey's cat , Siberian cat et Sylvestre's cats
- the female fisher cat has died recently.

For those who don't know, Siberian cat is Amur leopard cat and Sylvestre cat is wildcat (though it is unclear from the images on their Facebook if it is European or Gordon's, since they have both).

The hotel which was hinted at earlier is great news and I look forward to seeing how it turns out.

It's 3 european wildcat kittens ;) Gordon's wildcat kittens have a shorter fur and more sand-coloured
I photographed this one at Parc des Félins a few years ago :
