This thread is dedicated to the Parc floral de la Source, a botanical park in Orléans (Central France) with a few animal exhibits including a petting farm, some bird aviaries, a flamingo pond and a butterfly house.

Just visited today this animal and botanic Garden, and I want to make a small review (I haven't found so much information about the animal enclosures in social medias or les zoos dans le monde).

It's a interesting place, not so much far from Zooparc Beauval (1h 30 min by car) and for a french route is interesting to visit (specially in May or June, when all the natural flowers have flourished, today there was some flowers, but not for example the species that attract native species of butterflys).

The animal collection is small but interesting (exotic butterflys, some tropical birds, chilean flamingos and domestic animals).

The Tropical Butterfly House is open from March to November. Is a small but very cute tropical winterhouse, with a good combination of tropical plants (for give the place a tropical environment) and domestic citric species (for feed the caterpillars). The enclosure was completelly full of butterflies from all tropical areas.

The tropical outdoor zone counts with some birds enclosures of a somewhat curious design, with tent-shaped and one using one of the buildings. The species includes australian ninox, southern white-faced scops-owl, budgies, red-rumped parrot, kakariki...

A small group of chilean flamingos lives in the central lake of the park.

The domestic animals are is also interesting, with local and regional domestic races.

The resume: Is not a park to go specifically, but is very interesting as complementary place to visit if you go from Paris to Beauval.
