Visited a few days ago (put some pictures in the gallery), genuinely very impressed with what I thought was going to be an average-standard safari park! The overall atmosphere of the zoo combined with the range of species and quality of the enclosures has this zoo rivaling San Diego in my personal list! Some of the enclosures were huge, I'm space given to the grey wolves was about three times the size of what I normally see.
If there is one complaint to be made, it's that sometimes the exhibits are a little too big to the point where it's hard to track down the animals. Which is a good thing mostly, I like seeing animals on their terms, but I'm sure that a pair of black swans had more overall space than the lions! (Are there supposed to be grey kangaroos mixed with them? They were on the map but there was no signage for them)

Great to hear that you had such a beautiful impression of Natura Viva. It is easily italian best zoo and there is a big masterplan for the upcoming years (next year is 50th anniversary of the zoo and a bachelor group of Western Lowland Gorilla is going to arrive).
You're right about the big exhibit with black swans: they are mixed with a groups of grey kangaroos, but they prefer to hide in the shadow in summer (it's very hot in these days).

Can you share info on their new Masterplan? What is in store for us all?

Of course, as soon as I come back from my holidays (I am in Tenerife, yesterday I visited Loro Parque) I'll share info about their new masterplan. I work with them, so I can give you a lot of news.
In a new area in front of the exhibit of barbary macaques.
Here I am with some details about the new Masterplan of the park:
- a bachelor group (like the one at the Loro Parque) of Western Lowlands Gorilla will come in 2019.
- A new area, called "The Greenhouse of the Giants", will be built over the next two/three years and it will replace the old (and ugly) greenhouse. It will host some very interesting species like giant otters, giant Galapagos tortoises, giant antetears and Komodo dragons.
- A new educational farm will be created over the next two years and it will host only rare indigenous species (it will be used also as gene bank for those species).
- There is also a project to bring in the park another charismatic species like the koala in the not too distant future.
I have mentioned this elsewhere on the forum but will also post here, as it does pertain to Parco Natura Viva.
In May, two European bison from Parco Natura Viva were released into the Southern Carpathians - twenty-three animals in total were released, of which four also came from Berlin Tierpark. It is the largest such release of the species.

The original idea is similar, but the area is smaller.
It will be more like Berlin exhibit.
