Paris van Java is a mall in Bandung that had a mini zoo and aviary on its rooftop area. I went there back in 2018, but most of the animal areas are still in under construction, especially the civet/squirrel area. When I went to Bandung again back in 2019, I didn't had the time to go there because I had to follow my mom and her friends to Dago Pakar. I'm planning to go there again next year once the pandemic ends or when it's OK again to not to wear masks like in China or New Zealand, hopefully the animal exhibits are still there because I heard rumors of the aviary and the mini zoo are being closed, probably temporarily.

This is the only evidence I get. I hope when I can go there again, I'll ask the animal keepers there regarding the African peafowl.

It would be to my great surprise if there would be any Afropavo in Indonesia!

A little update:
Some of the animal exhibits in Paris van Java are temporarily closed, not permanently. However, there are still open exhibits there that are mostly view-only like the bird cages, the squirrel exhibits and the koi ponds. Dogs are still allowed to be brought into the mall's premises.

The exhibit for the squirrels and treeshrews are rectangular large bird cages with perching bars and a small wooden box filled with hay for them to sleep.

During my last visit, Paris van Java was in a VERY HORRIBLE STATE. Beta Aviary was closed and the former inhabitants got moved to smaller aviaries. None of the peafowls are there including the elusive African peafowl, and the squirrel/civet exhibit got shut down, only leaving a pair of Black Giant and Prevost's Squirrels each in smaller exhibits. There's even a BLACK GIANT SQUIRREL CARCASS inside the former civet exhibit (what the hell) and only the petting zoo remained open. PVJ needs refurbishment on their animal sections and don't let them go to abandonment like this again!!

Rating: 4/10 (what in their mind to leave a poor squirrel to die)

Paris van Java is a rather large mall in Bandung that have a mini zoo named "Moa Exotic", previously named "Beta Aviary" when it focused on birds and aviary, despite having other animals like squirrels.

The quality of the place is an average for an Indonesian mini zoo; small, heavy-emphasis and marketing on interactions, bad to awful well-being, and obviously as a way to capitalize on the owner's exotic pets hobby. It contains several, mostly domestic animals, with some interesting species include an spectacled caiman, blue-headed pionus, and blue-crowned parakeet.

Just went to Paris van Java today, and here are what I saw:

• Bird aviaries with a lone golden pheasant, cockatiels, rainbow lories, green cheeked conures, a lone Indian ringneck parrot, rosy cheeked lovebirds and sun conures.
• Moa Exotic. All I saw there were horses, pygmy goats, a spectacled caimans, prairie dogs, guinea pigs and assorted parrots. Didn't go there since I had lots of fun at Lembang Park and Zoo and felt very tired.
• Rabbit Brothers, a place where visitors can feed, pet and even buy rabbits. During my visit in 2022, this place was abandoned.
  
• The former squirrel aviary has been converted to a botanical park for various orchids, and its adjacent exhibit seemed to be vacant with a rat gnawing on what appeared to be corn. The corn looked pretty fresh, so it might be not vacant at all. The attendant at Rabbit Brothers said that there's a civet (most likely the mall's resident masked palm civet from 2019 idk).

Apparently, the Moa Exotic transported atleast their peacock by hand. Since this place is located within the Paris Van Java shopping mall, I think it would be common sight seeing some guys walking around with a bird throughout the mall, as pictured here:

Horsfield’s tree shrew? How many, and what’s the exhibit like? Any more tree shrews kept in Indonesia?

Zootierliste lists a Palawan tree shrew (Tupaia palawanensis) in the Palawan Zoo in the Philippines. The only other listed tree shrew is the northern tree shrew (T belangeri) at 52 zoos. I remember when the Clore Pavilion at London Zoo had 4 species

Apparently, the Moa Exotic transported atleast their peacock by hand. Since this place is located within the Paris Van Java shopping mall, I think it would be common sight seeing some guys walking around with a bird throughout the mall, as pictured here:

I'm hoping the peacock will be housed in the former squirrel exhibit.

Moa Exotic fits what peoples imagination of a roadside zoo looks like, but instead they're located on the roof of a shopping mall. Very horrible, very small for the animals, not to mention that these animals are essentialy there 24/7, not moved elsewhere even during closing times. Horses, ostriches, and even some reptiles definitely shows signs of stress. Horses and ponies tied up within a very small paddock, overpopulation of goat, ostriches inside a very small aviary, fishes of a handful of large fishes being mixed into one 100 gallon tank, a pair of large caimans in a dry exhibit, and some other awful sights.

What's even interesting or even worse, they have an Indonesian mountain weasel (Mustela lutreolina)! Off all places! The little cage was absolutely horrendous, the weasel itself is almost the took the entire space of the cage. The staff said that it was still feisty, and you have to wonder why. Just to show how long this species has been in the local wildlife trade.

Imagine a mall mini zoo of all places having a rare weasel that other zoos haven't kept (as in private-owned zoos like TSI, Jatim Park or the provincial/city zoos like Ragunan, Surabaya, Gembira Loka and Bandung Zoos)
