Paris Zoological Park Paris Zoo is opening and they want a platypus?!

The newly renovated Paris Zoo is opening to the public on April 12, 2014 and this article has some coverage of the highlights.

The zoo veterinarian claims that the zoo wants a platypus, which is bizarre since the zoo is geographically themed and has no Australia area.

Does anyone know if the Congo zone with a gorilla exhibit that was in the master plan is still planned as a future development?

The area zoned for African forest exhibits remains undeveloped; likely a second phase to come. I would guess the platypus comment was not in any way serious
