Parrot World Parrot World News

After the arrival of red-necked wallabies and recently highland cattles, the park is teasing about the addition of some snake species soon.

Those are rainbow boas (Epicrates cenchria), Amazon tree boas (Corallus hortulana) and corn snakes (Panhterophis guttatus).

I discovered this interesting article: the park has inaugurated an African aviary for 80 gray parrots (Psittacus ertihacus) from wild animal trafficking. They live with african spurred tortoises (Centrochelys sulcata).

We read in the article :
"This is a first step in the creation of the Africa zone of Parrot World, which will see the light of day in 2026. The future African zone, which will extend over 3ha below the aviary of the grays parrots, will notably house rhinos, giraffes and zebras. Just like the South American zone, immersion will be there, both for the animals and for the visitors, thanks to the reconstruction of a natural environment worthy of an African savannah."

In 2024, Parrot World continues its South American theme, with the arrival of Patagonian maras (Dolichotis pataognum) in the "Patagonia Trek" with guanacos and rheas.

Later in the year, the park will create the "Biodiversity Hall" with three new species :
- White-lipped tamarin (Saguinus labiatus)
- Cuvier's dwarf caiman (Paleosuchus palpebrosus)
- Red piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri)

In 2025/26, South American tapirs and giants anteaters will arrive.

In addition, the park is expected to welcome a species of spider monkey. The information was posted on the instagram account of Éric Vignot, the park's founder. I suspect that the tapirs and anteaters that will be joining the zoo are those from the Montpellier Zoo, as they will be leaving that zoo at the end of the year. These species are quite common in France, so I could be completely wrong.
