PATNA: Ram Pyare Ram is no ordinary caregiver. His charges - tiger cubs, baby rhinos, zebras and alligators - don't just eat out of his hand, they like to cuddle up to him before going to sleep. And like a doting parent, he has always been by their side for the last 25 years.

The Indian Rhino or the great Indian one-horned rhino (Rhinoceros unicornis) is a large mammal primarily found in north-eastern India and Nepal. It is confined to the tall grasslands and forests in the foothills of the Himalayas. It once ranged throughout the Indo-Gangetic belt but excessive hunting reduced their number as well as habitat drastically. Now the maximum number is found in Assam.
