Paul & Lynsey's Zoo Tour

We saw Geoffroys and lion headed tamarins, along with a couple of white faced saki monkeys.
 
Wow, has it really been 2 months since I last posted a video?! Well here's number 36 - Chester Zoo. This was the first in 5 for the final leg of our 2015 tour, visiting zoos in the North-west, stopping at Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Centre on the way home. Enjoy!

Hope it wasn't too expensive getting your car fixed. I think I'll miss out the baboons when I get around to going.

It could have been a lot worse. There is a route you can take where you miss out the baboons but still drive past them on the other side of the fence.
 
Great to see you're keeping the series going Paul - nearly there now!

Seeing your car damaged like that makes me cringe. The last time I went through the baboon enclosure was the last weekend I had a company car. I moved jobs, my cars are now my own, and there's no way they're going through!

Ironically, I've never had a scrap of damage in the number of times I've visited the baboons (in company cars :-) ), while I've witnessed some real vandalism all around me!
 
Thanks NigeW. Knowsley was the worst I encountered for monkey madness, I'd certainly think twice about taking my car through there again!
 
I've managed to finish two videos now, leaving one to complete for the 2015 tour.

One more to go, then I can bore you all with this years adventures - not so many but a few overseas zoos, concluding with Madrid next week :-)

Disappointingly we have only visited 15 "new" zoos this year, with 2 planned over the Christmas holidays. On the plus side we have had our first taste of overseas zoos - Germany, France, and Las Vegas!, so we are now planning on doing a few city breaks next year, starting with Cologne in February to visit Cologne Zoo and hopefully Wuppertal, and Brussels in April for my birthday to get to Paira Daiza and Plackendael :-)

Whilst staying in Cologne you really should visit Duisburg Zoo too; similarly, whilst staying in Brussels, you really should visit Antwerp Zoo as well. (Both Duisburg and Antwerp are easily reached by train from Cologne and Brussels respectively.)

We only have two full days in Cologne, would Duisburg be a better choice than Wuppertal? We haven't organised Belgium yet so 3 full days sounds like a plan thanks for the advise :-)

Both Wuppertal and Duisburg are well worth seeing. However, if you have to choose between the two, personally I would visit Duisburg to see the South American river dolphin whilst it is still there; I doubt we'll ever see another in Europe.
 
At last, I have completed the videos for 2015! Now to move on to 2016, where there were less new zoo visits (only 17 in total), but we did get a few new experiences in so will post them as soon as the videos are finished (and started!).
