Chester Zoo Personal Vision for Chester - Part 2

Your plans are all very good and I have enjoyed reading them. So I thought I would add my own vision!

The zoo shall be split up into 5 sections, Africa, Cheshire Experience, Asia, Islands and Waters, Rainforests of the World.

In Rainforests of the World a biome named Heart of africa will be the major atraction along with Realm of the Red Ape, the Jaguar House etc. In Islands & Waters there will be many water ways and Islands which will house many animals such as Sealions, Penguins and Giant Otters.

Cheshire Experience will be family based and will feature British Wildlife.

Ofcourse my Vision is Natural Vision.

Do you like it?

does Heart of Africa still go ahead in your plans, if so will you keep the same species that the zoo has announced plans for or do you bring in different species?

I doesn't actually, I'll do a more extensive and long term vision when I have time.

My Revised and Improved Vision

I've already got spare time :D - so here is the start of my vision:

The Zoo is now split into the following major zones:

  1. Entrance Zone and Traders of the Lost Ark
  2. Tsavo African Savannah Experience
  3. Bears of the Cloud Forest
  4. Asian Adventure
  5. Oriental Gardens
  6. Miniature Mammals
  7. Islands and Water
  8. Realm of the Red Ape
  9. Spirit of the Jaguar
  10. Heart of Africa
  11. Back to Basics
  12. A day in the life of a Zookeeper
  13. Tropical Realm
  14. Baboon Rock
  15. Odd Australia

I'll post about these one by one

ah, my plan. That's a weekend project and I'll try a map - what is the easiest way to do that?

not sure tbh

I scanned a map of the zoo into the computer (equally you can just save one from the website), and have started to do recolours on paint. I am nowhere near completion (quite a tricky task to try and make it look right) but I shall attatch what I have so far :)

If you can find an image of the map from somewhere online, then save it to your computer. Open it with MS Paint (or any similar software, but Paint is the famous one) and zoom right in. Choose a colour that you need and the tool that you need (I generally use the brush tool, but sometimes line tools can help). Then simply start to draw over the map, using exhibits that are there as a basis.

Sorry for the lame explanation, and if anybody can explain it better then please feel free :).

Javan Rhino, could you try and post a copy of the original map you scanned :) - There aren't really any good ones on the internet.

Can do, will have to scan it again though. Will post it to the gallery and give a quick heads up and a link on here sometime tonight :)

Nah, I can do it (so long as you don't mind all of the advertisements around the border). I will do it now, keep checking the gallery :)

No, it is one of the maps given upon entry. I can't post it anyway, I think it is the file size :(. Also, don't want to post it if I'll be breaking any laws.

The zoo owns the copyright for those maps and without the zoo`s permission you would be breaking the law.

Copyright is a nightmare have to deal with it at work every week.

Ohhh, painful. It is very easy to fall into the trap (ie, posting a zoo map to help someone out). I am a member on Inheritance forums (about a book series) and when an excerpt for the next (and last) book was released in certain editions of the previous one, you could get warnings and even bans for so much as posting a summary of what happens. You obviously could not post the whole thing, nor could you post a link.

This was a very bad case, since only the american paperback editions had it. The only way a Brit could see it would be to order it from the American Amazon site and get it imported (and I already have an english hardback and a deluxe edition, so wasn't going to buy another). In the end it turned out it was possible to read it on the 'look inside the book' on amazon.

Anyway, enough divergance.
In your opinion, which exhibit at Chester is the most in need of updating/renovating etc? My personal opinion is the indoor Chimp enclosure (although this will probably not happen if Heart of Africa goes ahead as planned, it would be a waste of money).

Actually the zoo knocked down all the bits that I thought were bad last year/early this year,or converted them to house Giant Otters. As for the Chimps indoor I`m no fan of it but then I cannot stand Chimps that said its not the worst Chimp enclosure in the UK by along shot anyone that knows me will know which one I think is the worst!!
