Perth Zoo Perth Zoo - General Discussion and Speculation

Fennec Fox - ZooChat - Chlidonias said they arrived (≈October) 2014 from Taronga: Kesi & Zaha b.2012, and yeah were in the exhibit(s) currently radiated tortoises in. (*Fsr also thought had seen online that PZ had fennecs' c.2011/2012/2013 too but that is likely mistaken memory, wasnt visiting personally back then, checking their website for news and changes at the zoo). Saw fennec foxes inside the savannah cave exhibit at the zoo between the hyenas and meerkats at the zoo during the 'Night Zoo' season in April 2000 (and before that saw them in the nocturnal house in the 1990s until about c1997, but know you were asking about the recent fennec foxes).
The pair from Taronga arrived in September 2014. They were the first ones at Perth since 2002 when the last individual passed away.

..In 2014, sisters, Kesi and Zahra were sent to Perth. They were later sent to Wildlife HQ in 2018, with Kesi dying in 2019. Zahra was later sent to Adelaide in 2020...

Thanks for your research post here @Jambo from Feb 2023 in Australasian Fennec Fox Research Thread. @Johnpaul21 Jambo posted about the two fennec fox sisters at Perth Zoo between Sep' 2014 and 2018 and their life details in that thread.

*EDIT: could have been as late as 1998 actually that last saw fennec foxes in the zoo's nocturnal house but pretty sure was no later than that (by mid 1999 the nocturnal house from memory was entirely Australian animals, the last slow loris from that era there in the '90s was also one of the last exotic mammal residents of the zoo's noc house; until the slow loris that arrived in '06). But yeah as mentioned before, personally last saw fennec foxes in the savannah cave exhibit in April 2000 during a 'night zoo' visit.
