@Jaiden is referring to Putra Mas (and the other Asian elephants at Monarto Safari Park) fulfilling an ambassador role for the African elephants. This is common in our region’s open range zoos (which hold predominantly African species). My personal opinion however is that Asian elephants are what they are and should be recognised/celebrated for that. Zoos after all are supposed to be educational.
Unlike the cows, Putra Mas has large impressive tusks, so that aligns more closely with the public impression/image of the tusked African elephant.
