Philadelphia Zoo Philadelphia Zoo News 2020

The Philadelphia Zoo has announced that their Andean geese have had babies. No word on when the zoo will reopen. I feel like this will never end and we'll never see the zoo again. Governor Wolf extended the quarantine to June, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were extended.
 
The zoo announced it will reopen July 6 to members and then July 9 to the public. Guests must wear masks, stay six feet away from each other and indoor exhibits are closed until further notice. I won’t be going back until all rules are lifted.

I am planning to visit this zoo after they open but since I have not been there before can you let me know if their Leopard exhibit is outside? I will hold off on the visit if they are inside until after the restrictions are lifted.

It is outside but the exhibit layout is strange.

Big Cat Falls has two entrances. The entrance closest to KidZooU is where you first see the lions but you can still see either the leopard in the middle exhibit. After passing the lions, you have to walk through a theater to another outside part with three exhibits, a jaguar, cougar, and leopard exhibit. Then you go through another building with fun kid stuff and bathrooms and out the other end, you get to the tiger exhibit. You can still see the leopard exhibit from the tiger exhibit. You go out and you are right in front of Tiger Terrace, a restaurant. (With really good pizza cones)

The biggest thing is that the cats rotate exhibits. The lions are usually in their exhibit, but the tigers, leopards, cougars, snow leopards, and jaguars frequently rotate.

The zoo has reopened for the first time in 16 weeks to members first and then to the entire public on July 9. You still have to wear masks, maintain social distancing, and indoor exhibits are closed. There is no word what will happen when the weather gets cooler, but it is likely the zoo may close down again in the winter.

During this time, I was very worried about the zoo and its future. Hopefully, this will boost any lost funds the zoo had. I can expect any future developments the zoo had planned to be postponed.

Nothing exciting has happened with the collection. Chinese hwamei had chicks and the naked mole-rats had babies.
