Philadelphia Zoo Philadephia Zoo News 2018

Those I meant are the large adults that have been at Philly well over 60 odd years (the 2 females) who will form a breeding trio with a new male (they are all nigrita - Santa Cruz).

The ones I guess you mean now are 8 year olds that were born at Brownsville Zoo - (microphyes -.

So I was right about the age part? That makes me a feel a little better, I know very little about reptiles :) In that case, I'm not sure, then. I don't remember exactly how many were in the yard and won't have my film photos back for a while. There was one they kept out in the yard even after they moved the others inside, but that could be for a number of reasons.

The zoo has not posted an official statement but I have heard from two sources affiliated with the zoo that Toi, the zoos red shanked douc langur has passed away. I am forever grateful to have seen this rare primate.

Oh no!! I guess that explains why I didn't spot her. I've never gotten a good look at her, but could always spot an arm or tail or something in the behind the exhibit area. A Francois was in the main douc exhibit, with the one labeled francois/douc being empty.

I'm blessed to have seen Toi throughout the times I visited the Philadelphia Zoo. A moment of silence for a beautiful animal.

I just added 150 or so images to the media section, including ones of all newer exhibits.

Species list and locations. Wings of Asia is closed for the season so those species aren't included. I also didn't go in KidZooU, which has rare breeds of goat and sheep, ponies, pigeons, some waterfowl, chickens and rats, along with insects and fish. Sorry for any typos, there's probably a few.

Photos of the trails are really hard to take because of how bright the sky is... there's also plenty of hiding spots where the animals can stay out of view. He's also not out most days. Their goal is to have him out every thursday-saturday, but he's terrified of the turkeys so they need to work on that before he can be up there again. He's very shy and wasn't doing well with visitors being so close to him in the regular exhibit, which is why he was moved to off exhibit/360 trail.

Yes those are what I was asking about.

I thought they were nicer and fancier than I remembered them being in the past ;) They're really big, and they have tons of them in several spots.

I don't know if they've done this in the past, but they're currently rotating birds and keeping 8-10 in at a time. The Golden Pheasant from the wings of asia was also in there, but I don't know if the other asia birds are in the winter rotation.

I'm glad he's becoming more comfortable, whatever they did to make him less scared must have worked well.
I believe all they did was be patient and let him adjust to the new surroundings and experiences. The Trails were challenging the animal exactly as was intended.

Does anyone know what scientific name including subspecies the zoo uses for the Oriental/Japanese White-eye? Thanks.
