Shark and rays arrive:

Shark, baby stingrays transported to new home at Phoenix Zoo - Daily Independent


This month Sea Life Arizona Aquarium and the Phoenix Zoo partnered on an aquatic animal transfer from Tempe to Phoenix, welcoming baby rays and a shark to their new home in the zoo’s Stingray Bay exhibit.

The new arrivals are:

Roosevelt - male epaulette shark (2019)
Castor and Pollux - twin male bluespotted ribbontail rays (2023)
 
On February 24th, the zoo announced that a (0.0.1) Rüppell's griffon vulture hatched on February 15th, which marks it as the first time the facility has successfully bred the species since 2020 and the first to be born in the Predator Passage area.

2 Dalmatian Pelican chicks were born to parents Seven and Anastasia on February 15th and 17th. The gender of both chicks is not mentioned. The first chick is being raised by Seven and Anastasia and the second chick is being raised by foster parents.

Also, 0.0.3 Nigerian dwarf goat kids were born to mother Hazel on Thursday morning.

On March 12th, the zoo announced that a (1.0) cheetah named Beau passed away on March 1st at age 10 due to an untreatable, aggressive tumor in the bone that caused partial paralysis.

On April 15th, the zoo sexed Hazel's kids as (0.3) and named them Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. The zoo also announced the names of Mothbug's kids, Bambi and Flower.

On April 17th, the zoo announced that they acquired a (1.0) southern tamandua named Ernie from the Staten Island Zoo in New York which is now on display in the Linne's two-toed sloth exhibit in the Children's Trail area.

One of her kids was named Flower, was seen limping in his front right leg. The zoo discovered acute lameness in both of his front legs.

I like when zoos' have several of their animals named so that they all reference one pop culture franchise, in this case the Pirates of the Caribbean series.
 
On May 13th, the zoo started dismantling their carousel in place of a new carousel which will open to the public in mid-June.

On May 19th, the zoo announced that their (0.1) Geoffroy's marmoset named Posh passed away at age 14 in late April due to a decline in health caused by old age.
